Our client as an opening for Project Director on a 360-bed, 21-story, 4.5 million square foot luxury hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The project was designed under IBC 2006, NFPA 101, AIA Guidelines, and JCI Accreditation Standards. The project is just starting construction.
The Project Director will lead a team of approximately 40 full-time architects and engineers responsible for typical construction administration services - submittal review, answering information requests, resolving field conditions, and participating in quality control efforts.
The ideal candidate would be an architect licensed in the USA, Canada, or Europe, with minimum 20 years experience, including construction phase services on major projects, completed healthcare projects, and work experience overseas in the developing world, preferrably the Middle East. The person needs to be energetic, tenacious, hands-on, a good communicator, engaged in the details, able to work under pressure, and adept at thinking on their feet, with a cool hand to guide the team (including less experienced members) through a challenging project on a short timeline.
The Owner's and Project Manager's staff typically have American backgrounds and all business is conducted in English. However, diplomacy, resilience, and tolerance for ambiguity, conflict, and cultural differences will be crucial to success.
The position is open now, so immediate deployment is possible. The project offers the prospect of relatively secure employment for approximately 3 years.
This is a high profile project targeting LEED Gold, and would be a great addition to any up and coming professional's portfolio, or a satisfying magnum opus for a seasoned professional late in their career.
